Illinois State Police will be out in force this month throughout White, Hamilton, Saline and Gallatin Counties. Sergeant Mark Zimmerman says his troopers will be focusing on seatbelts. Additionally, troopers in Wayne County will be patrolling with an eye towards preventing, detecting and taking enforcement action in response to violations associated with impaired driving and illegal transportation or consumption of alcohol or drugs. According to statistics, drug impairment is a factor in more than 30 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes throughout the state and there’s an alcohol related traffic fatality every 53 minutes in the U.S.
Motorists can expect Roadside Safety Checks, says District 19 Commander Captain Cory Ristvedt in White County next month.
