Interstate Crash Sends Driver to Hospital
Illinois State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Interstate 64 at the 130 and half mile marker.
State Police said Ahmed M. Mohamud, 28, of Louisville, Ky., was driving a semi eastbound approaching mile post 130, when he became ill. The truck-tractor semi-trailer left the roadway, traveling down an embankment before coming to a stop.Mohamud was transferred by helicopter ambulance to a local hospital.
Authorities cited Mohamud for driving while ill or fatigued, improper lane usage, failure to wear a seatbelt and failure to keep a logbook.
Responding to the scene, along with state police were an ISP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer, Little Wabash Fire Protection District, White County Ambulance service and Rick’s Towing.
