High school students, Rend Lake College transfer students, parents, and community members are invited to attend the annual Illinois Regional College Fair (IRCF), hosted in RLC’s James “Hummer” Waugh Gymnasium next week.
The IRCF is a free event that begins at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20. The evening will feature representatives from over 35 institutions for parents and students to interact with, ask questions, and learn more about college life.
Rachel Sveda, RLC Financial Aid and Admissions Coordinator, said the most important aspect of the fair is for students to see the different opportunities they have to start or continue their higher education, all in one location.
“Each representative at the fair will be eager to answer any questions they are asked, so students and parents should come prepared with tons of questions,” said Sveda. “No matter where the student is in their educational journey, the fair is a great resource for fact-gathering.”
Some of these questions include asking about the admission process and requirements, available majors at the institution, the campus setting and culture, the cost of attendance, financial aid availability, and other student services.
Below are the colleges and universities who have been confirmed for the fair at RLC, though more may be in attendance. The fair is sponsored by the Illinois Association of College Admission Counseling. Students may attend the event without a parent or guardian present.
