IECC Board of Trustees Meeting – Dec 13, 2016

The Board of Trustees of Illinois Eastern Community College District No. 529 met Tuesday night, December 13th at Olney Central College, Olney, Illinois and approved a resolution for the issuance of $6 million in Taxable General Obligation Community College Bonds (Alternate Revenue Bonds).

                The Board approved Publication of a Notice to conduct a public hearing on the intent to issue Funding Bonds for the purpose of paying claims against the District.  This hearing is scheduled to be held January 17, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. at Frontier Community College.

                Approval was given for agreements with Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, to offer Motorcycle Rider Training courses at all four of the IECC colleges, Frontier Community College in Fairfield, Lincoln Trail College in Robinson, Olney Central College in Olney, and Wabash Valley College in Mt. Carmel.

                An affiliation agreement was approved with Financial Healthcare Resources of Lawrenceville, Illinois for Olney Central College’s Medical Office Assistant Program.

                Trustees adopted changes to the current Transfer Degree Education Guarantee Policy.  This policy is a guarantee to the public of the educational effectiveness of the District’s transfer programs of instruction.

                The semi-annual review of closed meeting minutes was conducted as required by the Illinois Open Meetings Act.

                The Board ratified the resignation of Barbara Webster, Coordinator of Financial Aid at Lincoln Trail College, effective February 10, 2017 and the resignation of Stacy Hastings, Office Assistant, TRIO Student Support Services, a District Office position located at Olney Central College, effective November 28, 2016.

Three incumbent board members filed for three seats on the IECC Board during the seven-day filing period which began December 12th.  Filing for the two six year terms up for election are board members Gary Carter and Brenda Culver.  Filing for a four-year seat to complete the six-year term that became vacant when Trustee Marilyn Wolfe passed away is board member Jan Ridgely.  The election will be held April 4, 2017.

                Next regular meeting of the Board of Trustees will be Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at 7 p.m. at Frontier Community College, Fairfield.
