Illinois State Police responded to a traffic crash in the eastbound lane of I-64 at the Little Wabash River Bridge near mile post 124. The accident happened just after 6am yesterday and involved a blue International Semi and a blue Ford Explorer.
The narrative explains 59 year old Earl Presley of Sharps Chapel, Tennessee was changing lanes from the passing lane to the right lane when the front passenger side of his semi came into contact with the SUV driven by 69 year old Mary Heuglin of Louisville, KY causing it to spin in front of the semi and slam into the north concrete bridge railing. The semi then pushed the Explorer and it’s 7 occupants about 100 feet down the roadway, before both came to rest near the middle of the lanes.
Heuglin and one of the passengers were transported by ambulance to Fairfield Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries. Luckily, all involved were wearing seat belts and the juveniles ranging in age from 3 – 9 were secured in child restraint systems.
Presley was cited for Improper Lane Usage.
