Hunters Confused Over Antlerless Season
According to local Conservation Police Officer Lisa Haggerty, there has been some confusion as to late winter deer hunting seasons.
According to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, the late winter antlerless-only season will run two weekends, Dec. 27 to the 30 and then Jan 18 to 20th, but those seasons are only open to a few select counties in the state.
Here in Southern Illinois that includes Hamilton, Saline, Perry and Monroe counties, all south of Interstate 64.
Locally, Clay and Marion counties are also open to antlerless only season.
Archery deer season continues through January 20 of the new year.
