Holland Implicated in Bt. Prairie Incident
Earlier this week, Carmi Police tazed and arrested Jacob A. Holland, 24 of 510 Fifth Street after he left the White County Courthouse after a court security officer tried to stop Holland, knowing him to be wanted by the White County Sheriff’s Department.
Holland had been identified as the assailant in a home invasion that occurred in early May. Apparently a lengthy investigation of the home invasion that happened at the home of 85 year old David D. Berry of Burnt Prairie indicated Holland was the assailant. Berry reported the theft of approximately $400.
The investigation led to the report being provided to White County State’s Attorney Denton Aud, who issued a warrant for aggravated battery.
Wednesday of this week, Holland came into the White County Courthouse and went into the circuit clerk’s office.
Court Security Officer Ralph Hall, knowing Holland to be wanted attempted to stop Holland in the courthouse. However, Holland left the courthouse, after running through Officer Hall in an attempt to get out of the courthouse. Hall received a head injury, possibly hitting his head on the door as Holland ran past him. Hall was transported to Hamilton Memorial Hospital in Mcleansboro, where he was treated and released.
Later in the day, Wednesday, Carmi police located Holland, who was apprehended on Fifth Street in front of Fifth Street market, where he was tazed and taken into custody.
Holland remains in custody facing a variety of charges.
