Illinois State Police District 19 troopers investigated a fatal traffic crash that occurred on Illinois Route 141 at noon on Thursday.
According to the preliminary crash report, 23 year old Jaylen Ryan Kurtz of Henderson, KY was traveling west on 141 at a high rate of speed and passing other cars, when he lost control of the vehicle and left the road on the north side, went down the embankment, and struck several trees.
Kurtz was pronounced deceased at the scene by White County Coroner Chris Marsh. Troopers at the scene were assisted by the White County Sheriff’s Department, White County Ambulance Service, Carmi Fire Department, Medic One EMS, and Don’s Bumper to Bumper.
