Harrisburg man injured in Friday crash

An accident in Saline County Friday afternoon sent a Harrisburg man to the hospital according to a crash report by the Illinois State Police.

Troopers say that 36 year old Cortez Ellis was passing a vehicle stopped to make a turn off of Route 45 into a drive way north of McDermott Road, when he sideswiped the van driven by Carolyn Miller, then continued south before leaving the roadway, striking an embankment, and then striking a tree.

Ellis was not wearing a seatbelt, and was ejected from the vehicle.  He was transported to an area hospital by Air Evac.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Saline County Sheriff’s Department, Carrier Mills Police, Saline County Ambulance Service, and Jones’ Towing.
