29 year old Matthew French of McLeansboro is now a convicted felon and will spend nearly 3 decades behind bars. French admitted to having sex with a 14 year old girl at the local park and also was found with topless photos on his phone after McLeansboro City Police executed a search warrant. French would eventually plead guilty to a Class 1 Felony for possession of Child Pornography and two Class 2 Felonies for Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse. Following his incarceration, French will serve 2 years of parole and will have to register as a Sex Offender.
A West Virginia woman will serve 3 years behind bars in Illinois after pleading guilty to Unlawful Possession of Meth, a class 3 Felony. 34 year old Tonya Workman was found with less than 5 grams of meth in her vehicle on multiple occasions leading to 2 charges and a probation violation. William Workman, also of West Virginia will serve the same sentence for being with Tonya when the meth was located.
A Gallatin County woman who stole checks from her grandmother, forged and cashed them at a convenience store in Hamilton County has been convicted of Forgery. The Class 3 Felony means 38 year old Misty Rector of Junction will serve 2 years behind bars.
Zachery Shock appeared in Hamilton County court Thursday of last week, a day after waiving his right to a preliminary hearing and formal arraignment in White County court for escape and criminal damage to state property charges. In court Thursday on murder and aggravated battery charges, States Attorney Justin Hood says Shock’s trial date has been set for August 27th. Also at the hearing, Rhonda Blades, Shock’s defender filed a motion for a change of venue. Judge Vaughn will consider that motion on August 16th.
