The Guardian Center, Inc. is currently accepting nominations for its 2016 “Friend of the Children” award.
The center wishes to honor an individual who contributes in a special way to meet the needs of children. The ideal candidate is an individual committed to serving children in his or her community.
Members of the public are asked to submit the name of the person(s) believed to have shown exemplary commitment to the needs of children and whose efforts should be acknowledged. Nominations are open to all persons in White, Edwards, Wabash, Saline, Gallatin, Richland, Lawrence and Crawford Counties.
Nominees should have an established record of working with children in some mentoring, treatment or character-building activity, and of going above and beyond the call of duty in their service to children.
Nominations can be made on-line at theguardiancenter.org or by picking up a form at the Center (located at 1124 Oak St. in Carmi). Two letters of support should accompany the nomination form. All nominations should be received no later than Saturday, Mar. 12.
The winner will be announced at The Guardian Center’s 2016 banquet, to be held Friday, Apr. 1 at the White County Fairground Floral Hall.
For more information or to make reservations to attend the banquet, call the Center at 618-382-8247.
