Grayville Police Have Busy Week; Several Arrests Made

Jeremy W. Elliot, 37, of Allendale was taken into custody on Friday, September 20th, on a Failure To Appear warrant out of Wabash County. A Grayville Police Officer located Elliot at 221 N. Fourth Street and transported him to the White County Jail.

A 38 year old Imperial, MO man, Nathan J. Kempa, was arrested by Grayville Police for Driving While License Suspended. On Thursday, September 26th, around 7:20 pm, officers initiated a traffic stop along South Court Street near Subway and discovered Kempa’s license was suspended. He was taken into custody and transported to the White County Jail. Kempa is free on bond pending a First Appearance in White County Court on October 24th at 9:00 am.

A Carmi woman remains in the White County Jail following her arrest on Thursday, September 26th. Kelsie M. Collard, 26, was taken into custody by Grayville Police officers on a warrant for Residential Burglary and drug charges. Collard was spotted at Road Ranger and taken to the jail. Once at the jail, officers located a syringe with substance and a smoking pipe on Kelsie’s person. The substance tested positive for methamphetamine. She was then charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. A preliminary hearing is set for October 21st at 10:00 am in White County Court.

Stephen I. Hartsock, 34, of Grayville was picked up by Grayville Police on Saturday, September 28th, on a Failure To Appear warrant out of Edwards County. A Grayville officer initiated a traffic stop near Oxford and Bishop Street. Once making contact with the driver, Stephen was located in the front passenger seat. Knowing Hartsock had an outstanding warrant, he was taken into custody. Police also found Hartsock to be in possession of an open alcoholic beverage. He was additionally cited for Illegal Transportation of Alcohol by a passenger and taken to the White County Jail.

57 year old Danny D. Christopher of Grayville and 46 year old Amy D. Miller were taken into custody by Grayville Police officers on drug and weapon charges. At approximately 2:45 am Sunday, September 29th, a Grayville officer initiated a traffic stop near East Vine and North Court Street. Once making contact with the driver, Danny and passenger, Amy, an Edwards County K9 Officer arrived on scene and conducted a free air sniff around the vehicle. Near the driver’s seat was located a pin pipe containing a substance which tested positive for methamphetamine. A set of brass knuckles was found in Miller’s purse. The pair were placed under arrest and transported to the White County Jail. Christopher was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He remains in the White County Jail. Miller was charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon. She was released on bond.

Grayville Police made a DUI arrest Monday, September 30th, following a traffic accident. At approximately 5:15 pm, Police received a call in regards to a vehicle accident at Casey’s General Store. Upon arrival, Kassandra Linnemann told officers she had been struck by Justin A. Pepperworth, 55, of Everson, WA, when he was pulling in to park. While speaking with Pepperworth, the officer detected a strong smell of alcohol on Justin’s breath. Pepperworth showed signs of being under the influence and was asked to perform a field sobriety test which he failed. A preliminary breath sample revealed a blood alcohol content of .129. He was transported to the White County Jail where he gave another breath sample which showed a BAC of .253. Pepperworth was charged with DUI and Alcohol Concentration of .08 or more.
