Grayville man arrested near Norris City Monday

The White County Sheriff’s Department received a theft report from Fairfield based Podolski Oil Company Monday morning, stating that a fluid in on a triplex pump had been taken from a lease in southern White County.  It was reported that the large part would have taken at least two people to remove.

Monday afternoon, an off duty Norris City officer reported a suspicious individual on the front porch of the Philip Healy residence.  The officer made contact with 42 year old Caleb Barnett, also known as Caleb Campbell of Grayville, who stated that his three wheeler had broken down.  Barnett was able to get it started again and left the property when it quit again.  When deputies arrived, they saw Barnett throw a sunglasses case to the ground.

Barnett was taken into custody for driving on a revoked license.  A search of the case found methamphetamine, cannabis, and smoking pipes.  Barnett was additionally charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of cannabis, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Barnett was also found to be wanted on an Edwards County warrant for driving on a revoked license.

Barnett was transported to the White County Jail and was being held without bond pending a court hearing.
