The City of Grayville is spending some money. In working through a nearly 20 item agenda Monday night, council members approved multiple uses of TIF funds and made progress on several other fronts.
Commissioner David Jordan reported on his and Mayor Bisch’s visit with Albion officials regarding the potential of partnering together in an intergovernmental agreement for a new water treatment plant. He says officials will come together again next week and visit the Robinson/Palestine plant, calling it a similar situation and hoping they can get some ideas on how they may work together. He says if all goes well, the council may be able to start making some decisions at the next meeting.
Council made a change to how the 13 employees will now measure their time on the clock. Council voted 4-1 to purchase computerized time clock system. The city will purchase 3 units at $499 each and pay an additional $28 per month service fee. This will replace the phone in time clock system currently utilized. Commissioner Andy Brock was the lone no vote.
Council approved giving First Christian Church $15,000 in TIF funds, along with Rick’s Ashland $8,857, and also approved using TIF funds to reseal the parking lot near the Moose Lodge. Huff Sealing had the low bid of $4,100.
At Commissioner Stroud’s recommendation, the Grayville City Council approved the purchase of new panels for two lift stations, one on Commerce and the other on 2nd.
Council purchased a new playground set for the park at a cost of $5,400, and also approved the purchase of a couple Dewatering bags. They agreed to participate in the LIHEAP program for the next 3 years again and also purchased a new salt spreader for the city at a cost of $4,105. Before adjourning, council also approved the Lions Club application to solicit donations for the organization’s Candy Day on Saturday, October 13th.
