Golf Team State Bound
The Carmi White County Bulldog Golf Team is heading to state this weekend after a successful day at sectionals.
The Bulldog golf team will be making its first appearance at the state tournament since 2002, when Terry Austin’s squad tied for fourth.
Oakley Gee became just the second Bulldog freshman to ever win medalist honors at the sectional meet. John Given also accomplished that feat, and by an incredible coincidence, he did it by shooting the same score, a 72, at the same course in Effingham back in 1975. That was the year David Johnson’s Bulldogs went on to win the first of their five straight state titles.
