A Carmi man is free following his arrest Friday evening in McLeansboro. Hamilton County 911 received multiple reports late Friday afternoon of a reckless driver westbound on Route 14 east of town. McLeansboro Police Officer Stephen Miller was able to locate the vehicle, observe traffic violations and initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Randolph and Jackson Street. 22 year old Avery Lucas of Carmi was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Improper Lane Usage. Lucas was last arrested in 2018 for possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia. The drug paraphernalia charge was dropped in exchange for his guilty please on the cannabis charge, for which he is currently serving 2 years supervision. On Friday evening, Lucas posted bond and was released. Court records don’t show when he’s due to appear on his new charges yet.
Carmi Police were dispatched Friday afternoon to 1307 Oak Street on a report from the Department of Corrections indicating 32 year old Jessica Smith of Maunie was at the residence and wanted on a parole violation. The officer took Smith into custody and she was later turned over to Correctional Officers.
The White County Sheriff’s Office booked 42 year old Cory Rigg Friday evening just after 8pm. No court record has been updated as of yet this morning telling us what he’s behind bars for. Rigg’s last known address is Bone Gap. He was arrested in White County back in 2017 on a theft related charge.
48 year old Lawrence Chad Smith was arrested in Mt. Carmel Friday. After being stopped on Walnut Street, Smith was found to be driving on a revoked license. He was transported to the Wabash County Jail, given a citation and later released with a mandatory court date.
