Four individuals were sentenced to prison on Thursday in Hamilton County Court according to States Attorney Justin Hood.
26 year old Zachary Bassemier of Carmi pled guilty to one count of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine following his arrest by McLeansboro Police on May 5th. Bassemier will serve four years in prison and one year of mandatory supervised release.
37 year old Duane Carlson of Percy plead guilty to one count of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon and one count of Aggravated Battery in connection with a stabbing in McLeansboro on January 26th. Carlson received a sentence of four years in prison and one year of mandatory supervised release. The sentences will run consecutive to each other, meaning Carlson will be behind bars for eight years. The Illinois State Police, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department, and McCleansboro Police participated in the investigation.
41 year old James N. Vailes of Broughton was sentenced to four years behind bars and one year of supervision following incarceration after pleading guilty to a charge of aggravated battery. Vailes attacked a family member on May 11, and was arrested by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department.
40 year old Kellie Jackson of McLeansboro will serve six years in prison after pleading guilty to charges in three separate cases. A charge of Arson was brought following the investigation into an incident on November 21, 2015 investigated by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department. A charge of theft was also the result of a separate investigation by the Sheriff’s Department, and a charge of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance was the result of a May 5 arrest by McLeansboro Police. Jackson also was ordered to pay over $6000 in fines and costs.
