Join Fairfield Memorial Hospital at a Spring Into Health Fair for a morning of free family fun on Saturday, April 22, from 7:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., to be held at the Frontier Community College Workforce Development Center! There will be something exciting and educational for those of all ages.
There will be special demonstrations, talks, and a volleyball tournament. Whitney Buckles, RDLD, FMH’s Registered Dietitian and April Greifzu, FMH’s Director of Nutrition Services will be doing a Healthy Cooking Demonstration at 9:00 a.m. The team members from the Pain Center of Fairfield Memorial Hospital will be talking about procedures for Back Pain at 9:30 a.m. Then at 10:00 a.m., special guest, Gerry Kinney, of Fairfield will be talking about “Healthcare when you need it most.” Kinney was a lineman for Wayne White County Electric Co-op when he came in contact with a 7,200 volt transmission line. His amazing story of recovery will be shared along with stories of the healthcare community who helped him along the way. At 10:30 a.m., Frontier Community College will be holding a BINGO session that will conclude at 11 a.m. with prizes to be given away. Then at 12:00 p.m. a Volleyball Tournament will begin on the Frontier Community College Campus Lawn. To play the cost is $60/team, simply call Luke Harl at 618-842-3711 x 4242 to register.
One of the largest attractions will be the offering of the Reduced Rate Lab Testing, which will include: Glucose (Blood Sugar) $10 | Hemoglobin A1c (Diabetic Monitor) $20 | Lipid Panel (Cholesterol, Triglycerides, HDL, LDL, and VLDL) $20 | PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) $20 | Thyroid Function Panel (T4, Free T3, Free T4, TSH) $35 | General Health Profile (Includes CBC, Lipid Screen, and a 12 test chemistry profile) $35 | Vitamin D Test $35. There is no need to make an appointment, just simply present to the health fair to receive testing. Payment will be due at the time of service.
Once you have your fasting labs taken care of, be sure to stop and enjoy the FREE Breakfast of biscuits and gravy. Individuals will also enjoy other various activities and screenings including: Balance Beam Fun, Chair Rise Screening, Blood Pressure Screenings, Bone Density Screenings, Fitness Assessments, Diabetes Risk Assessments, and Blood Sugar Checks. Education will be provided on: Hand-Washing, Stroke Prevention, Pain Management, File of Life – Medication Reconciliation, Oxygen Safety in the Home, Wayne County Ambulance Service, Air Evac, Medicare Education, “MyChart”- Patient Portal, Tobacco Cessation, and Nutrition Education. The children will also be entertained by the Kids Fitness Corner, Health Professional Dress-up Photo Station (contest), and Stuffed Animal Operation, Repair & Check up (Bring your stuffed animal that needs sewn/repaired).
