Illinois State Police have released details about a fatal traffic crash that occurred Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 64 in Wayne County.
According to the preliminary report, at approximately 1:33 pm, 64 year old Thomas Shull of St. Charles, Missouri was travelling east when for unknown reasons, left the road near mile marker 93 ½. Shull’s vehicle drove through the south ditch, across Wayne County Road 70 North, and struck a group of trees.
Shull was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, Wayne County Coroner’s Office, Illinois Department of Transportation, the Wayne City Fire and Ambulance Service, and Rick’s Towing.
