Farmers invited to Nutrient Loss Inhibitor field day

The Wayne County Farm Bureau and Wabash Valley Service Company are pleased to invite area farmers to their Nutrient Loss Inhibitor Demonstration (NLID) Plot Field Day. The event will be held on Friday, August 11 at 10:00 a.m.

The NLID plot is project that will demonstrate the use of various nutrient management practices; focusing on the use of nitrogen and phosphorus inhibitors and enhancers. The plot uses various levels of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer with stabilizers such as Nutrisphere, Agrotain, and Avail. The plot also has replications with additional products such as Humate, ammonium sulfide, and sulfur applications.

Multiple individuals will be on hand to discuss the plot results including Mike Wilson from Wabash Valley Service Company and Dr. Darin Lickfeldt from Verdesian. Lauren Lurkins with the Illinois Farm Bureau will also be on hand to discuss Illinois Farm Bureau’s nutrient stewardship efforts.

The NLID plot is located at the Fred Blessing farm, 5 miles north of Fairfield on Enterprise Road, and one mile west on county road 1200 N. Look for the NLID plot signs.

The NLID plot project is funded through a Nutrient Stewardship Grant from the Illinois Farm Bureau.
