Evansville Man Arrested Sunday on Multiple Charges Including Criminal Trespass and Disorderly Conduct

At about 10:46 PM Sunday, Brian Kingery called the White County Sheriff’s office to report a stranger at his house that kept ringing the doorbell saying that he needed a ride.  When Deputy Sheriff Scott Cantrell responded to the call he was informed while enroute that Kingery was involved in a fight with the suspect, who turned out to be 23 year old Dalton Adams of Evansville .  When he arrived, Cantrell saw that Kingery had the man pinned down in his front yard and handcuffed him.

Kingery said he looked out his window and saw Adams inside of his pickup that was parked in front of his house, went outside, and after a brief scuffle overpowered Adams and held him down until Cantrell arrived.  Kingery provided a statement and signed a complaint against Adams for criminal trespass to vehicles and disorderly conduct.  Adams said he was getting messages from God all day and stated his car broke down, he had been walking all evening to find help and didn’t know where his car was located.  He also said his name was Zach Michaels and didn’t give his real name until taken to jail.

Monday at about 1:19 AM, White County Corrections Officer Destiny Dale was moving the property and clothes of Adams and saw a small clear plastic bag in one of his shoes.  Carmi officer Drew Grider tested the white substance inside the baggie and it field tested positive for methamphetamine.

The White County Sheriff’s department received another call Monday from Brian Kingery in reference to a vehicle discovered in a ditch.  Kingery said he believed the vehicle was going to belong to Dalton Adams.

Deputy Sheriff Randy Graves responded to the scene at about 10:30 AM at the intersection of 500 North at 1140 East in New Haven, about one mile east of a farm road, and saw the vehicle was stuck in a creek.

After running the license plate, Graves discovered that the plate didn’t belong to the vehicle, which turned out to be stolen from Evansville and belonged to Nancy Jordan of Lavergne, Tennessee.

Upon inspecting the vehicle, Deputy Graves discovered that  Adams had posted a Facebook video of him inside it and noticed in the video that there was a Jumbo Bucks Lottery Card with matching numbers with Adam’s face shown holding the lottery card.  There was also a plastic yellow pot with green leaves and a girl with yellow hair and a pink outfit on the dashboard, that was also on the video.

The items were placed into evidence and the vehicle was towed by Don’s Bumper to Bumper from the scene.
