Beginning March 9, Egyptian Health Department will facilitate a 6 week, evidence-based Diabetes Self-Management Program that was designed by Stanford University. This program has resulted in noticeable improvements for diabetics who participate. The classes are provided at no charge to the community, and it’s open to anyone over the age of 18 who has diabetes, or is a family member, friend, or caretaker of a diabetic.
The class will meet at the Carmi Public Library lower level conference room from 2-4:30 p.m. every Wednesday for six weeks. Space is limited, so registration is required. Please call 866-744-2468 to register.
Kimberly Scott-Pilkington, a certified trainer for the program stated, “As a Type 1 diabetic for 25 years, I went through this program as a participant before I was certified to do the training. It’s one of the best diabetes trainings I have ever had. I think every diabetic, even with prior training from dieticians, certified diabetes educators, endocrinologists, etc. would benefit from this program. Also, you get to make a lot of great friends that understand what you deal with on a daily basis in the process.”
