March 15 is an annual celebration, a national day of activism that empowers youth to stand up, speak out, and engage in the fight against tobacco use since 1996. It is organized by the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids. This year more than 1000 events in schools and towns are expected to take place across the United States and even around the world. Students will use this opportunity to not only reach out to their peers, but to their parents, relatives, and others in their communities regarding tobacco cessation.
On Wednesday, March 15, 2017, Egyptian Health Department has partnered with various schools in Gallatin, Hamilton, Saline, and White counties to display “Cup in the Fence” messages that promote tobacco cessation. In addition, fact sheets regarding current tobacco use and resources for those interested in quitting will be provided.
We can win the fight against tobacco use, the number one cause of preventable death in the United States and around the world. Mark your calendar for March 15, and support this worthy cause.
