Dogs Can’t Overcome Offensive Struggles, Drop First BDC Game of Season

It was a long Friday night for the Carmi-White County Bulldogs as they welcomed in conference foe Flora to McDougal-Evers Gymnasium for the final home game before Christmas.

The Bulldogs are playing without senior Gavin Holloman, who re-injured a previously bothersome right hamstring, and is expected to be out until after the Eldorado Holiday Tournament. Without the senior point guard, the Bulldogs are trying to gel together on the offensive end.

Carmi shot just 7/22 from the field in the first half, to go along with 5 turnovers as Flora led 9-7 after the 1st and 26-19 at halftime.

The shots eventually began to fall for the Bulldogs, but it might’ve been a little too late. Flora grew their lead to as many as 12 in the 3rd quarter. Carmi did not give up however, some late buckets helped them get back in the game. They cut the lead down to 3 at 47-44 with a minute to go, but Flora was able to hit their free throws to hold on for the 53-49 win.

Mitchel Edwards led the Bulldogs in scoring with 19 points.
Merick Millhorn scored 12 points.
Kade Stockton scored 11 points.
Jaxon Bradshaw scored 4 points.
Hayden Sauls scored 3 points.
Cade Allen scored 2 points.
Beck Huff scored 1 point.

The Bulldogs fall to 4-3 on the year and 0-1 in the Black Diamond Conference. Carmi will travel to Hamilton County on Friday.
