The Shawneetown-New Haven Road is back open now after a significant crash occurred about 9:30pm Wednesday. According to State Police, the accident happened at the intersection with the Ridgway-New Haven Road after the driver of an eastbound Chevrolet Silverado disobeyed the stop sign and collided with a Chevrolet Malibu. Both the driver and the passenger in the truck as well as the driver of the car had to be airlifted to nearby hospitals. The roadway was shut down for the next 5 hours while crews worked the scene. Illinois State Police say the roadway reopened around 2:30am, but the investigation remains ongoing.
