The Carmi League of Arts Summer Gazebo Concert Series continues this Tuesday.  Beginning at 7:30, the cast of Little Shop of Horrors will sing selections from the musical they performed recently.  60’s music will be featured.  In the event of bad weather, Gazebo Concerts would be moved to the Carmi High School Auditorium.


The 74th Annual Chamber of Commerce Dinner is still 2 months and change away.  Preparations are well underway however and part of getting ready is securing nominations for the awards the organization hands out each year.  The Carmi Chamber is currently seeking nominations for Citizen of the Year as well as Large and Small Business of the Year.  Folks are asked to nominate individuals who have made Carmi a better place to live.  Letters can be snail mailed to 225 East Main Street in Carmi or emailed to [email protected].  Nominations must be received by August 15th for consideration by the Executive Committee.


The Norris City May Lodge is gearing up to cook a Krispy Krunchy Cajun recipe Chicken Dinner this coming Saturday.  The event will be held from 4 – 7 at the Masonic Building located on East Wabash Street in Norris City.  The community is welcome to eat in or carry out.  A variety of order options are available from single meals to family meals.  If you’d like to order ahead, schedule a delivery, or simply have questions, contact Edward Oliver at 384 – 6969.  Proceeds from the dinner will go back into the community such as NCOE schools, the library, scholarships and back to school supplies.


If your children or grandchildren complain of knee, leg, elbow or wrist pain, seem to be clumsy or fall more than they should for their age, or complain of back pain, take note.  The Carmi Elks Lodge, through the Illinois Elks Children’s Care Corporation is sponsoring a free Children’s Orthopedic Clinic on Wednesday, August 15th.  Dr. Justin Miller will be available at Wabash Christian Therapy and Medical Center on Oak Street in Carmi to examine area kids.  Appointments are necessary.  Call toll free 800 – 272 – 0074 between 9am and 4pm Monday through Friday to register for the free clinic.
