Coal Mine Fatality Reported
A Hamilton County Coal Miner died early Sunday morning following a freak accident at Hamilton County Coal, near Dahlgren.
S & L Industries reported John Ditterline was fatally injured when he was caught between a material door and the rib while trying to open an access door. The company said Ditterline had only been employed at Hamilton County Coal for a few months, explaining he was an “excellent employee.”
Reports indicated other workers tried to resuscitate Ditterline unsuccessfully. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
