City Police Report Three Accidents
Carmi Police responded to three separate accidents over the weekend, with one resulting in minor injuries to a driver and a second accident prompted authorities to issue a ticket.
Friday afternoon, local police responded to the Wal-mart parking lot after Arthur R. Saunders of 507 Bohleber Drive, Carmi stuck a pole. Saunders told authorities he was distracted by someone on roller blades causing him to hit the pole, near the Garden Center.
Saunders sustained abrasions to his arms, knee and head, but declined treatment at the site.
His vehicle sustained damage to the driver’s side front fender. That accident occurred just before 3 Friday afternoon.
About 20 minutes after 3, Friday, local police responded to a two vehicle crash on Plum Street, near W. Webb, when Angela R. Kelsey of Crossville attempted to make a u-turn on Plum Street, when her vehicle was hit by Charles L. Digman of New Harmony, Ind., who said he was unable to stop in time to avoid the crash.
Kelsey was ticketed for improper turning. She and a passenger received minor injuries but were transferred to Ferrell hospital in Eldorado. Digman was not injured in the crash.
Shortly after noon, Saturday, city police responded to a two vehicle crash on Main Street at Fairview Drive, near the Rock Bottom gas station. The report indicated Charles R. Roser of Carmi, had made a right turn out of the Rock Bottom lot on Main Street and hit a vehicle driven y Christopher Mahonay of rural Crossville. The collision caused the Mahoney vehicle to strike a Rock Bottom sign.
No injuries were reported and according to the accident report, both vehicles were driven from the scene.
