City of Grayville To Host Last August Meeting on Monday

The City of Grayville will gather again for their final August formal encounter Monday evening, August 26th.  Earlier in the day, officials will host a public hearing regarding the Greater Wabash Regional Planning Committee’s Community Development Block Grant.  That’s open to the public and will get under way at 1:30pm from Council Chambers.

On the agenda for the evening meeting at 7, council members will take up the ongoing process of demolishing abandoned properties and also further consider how to handle renters who skip out on their utility bills.  Council members haven’t been able to come to a consensus with regards to the handling of the issue.  Again, members will discuss changes to Grayville’s liquor ordinance.  Renovations to the Police Department made the agenda again as did further discussion expected on a potential Public Hearing for Zoning with regards to Illinois Recreational Cannabis.  Employee Evaluations are scheduled to be discussed at the end of the meeting and commissioners will also hear about a request to vacate a portion of North First Street.

City Attorney Jay Walden, Mayor Travis Thompson, Treasurer Sharon Walden, the Utility Manager and Commissioners will all get a chance to file reports as well prior to adjourning.  WROY/WRUL News will have a reporter at the meeting and have a full recap Tuesday morning.
