Even though the snow held off over the weekend, Christmas was “In the Air” at Southeastern Illinois College as the SIC Community Choir and SIC Concert Choir performed at the annual Christmas concert on Dec. 4.
The event was held in the George T. Dennis Visual & Performing Arts Center Theatre in Harrisburg, and included nearly 40 vocalists and musicians. The SIC Community Choir has long been directed by Tim Green of Golconda, and the SIC Concert Choir is directed by SIC music instructor, Cory Garmane. The concert opened with Christmas is in the Air, an original song composed by Green, followed by holiday favorites and pieces from Handel’s Messiah.
New choir members will be welcomed in January – ages high school and up are encouraged to inquire. Community Choir rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings at the college, and will start back up on Jan. 10. Contact Cory Garmane at 252-5400 ext. 2235 regarding choir information, or show up to one of the first rehearsals in January.
