A Title X Family Planning grant administered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Population Affairs and awarded to Community Health & Emergency Services, Inc. (CHESI) has made it possible for men and women in southernmost Illinois to receive comprehensive family planning and preventative health services at reduced cost or even no cost, based on family size and income for persons having limited or no healthcare insurance.
Family Planning services are voluntary and confidential and include, but are not limited to physical exams; pregnancy testing and options counseling; sexually transmitted disease (STD) education, testing, and treatment; birth control methods and counseling including emergency contraception; community education services for professionals, schools, parents, and teens. Title X does not provide funds for abortion as a family planning method.
CHESI does not discriminate on the basis of age, sex, race, color, religion, national origin, sexual preference, income, and marital status, number of pregnancies or contraceptive choice.
CHESI has facilities in Alexander, Pulaski, Jackson, Hardin, Pope, Saline, Williamson and White counties, and can make arrangements to provide most services through its Wellness on Wheels mobile clinic at most locations. For more information or to schedule services call 1-877-692-4374.
