Carmi Woman Arrested in Enfield
The White County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Carmi woman after she was stopped walking on North Street in Enfield.
The incident report indicated 37 year old Tina R. Burton, 203 Sixth Street, Carmi, was stopped by authorities around 2 Wednesday afternoon. A check, revealed Burton was not wanted on any outstanding warrants.
Authorities then asked Burton what was in her bag she was carrying. Burton said there was nothing there, but in revealing the contents, it was noted a white plastic corner bag, containing white chalky powder was found. There was also several small white pills and a pink pill inside the bag as well as a set of scales and two small smoking pipes. A field test showed the powder to be methamphetamine.
Burton was arrested for possession of meth, possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was transported to the City County Jail in Carmi for processing and remained in custody early Thursday morning.
White County Sheriff Doug Maier and Chief Deputy Craig Poole were the investigating officers.
