Carmi White County S3D Archery

Carmi White County S3D Archery

The Carmi-White County S3DA Archery Club held its 2nd annual Illinois Regional Outdoor 3-D Archery event on Saturday, May 11th.  There were 74 student archers from 4 clubs and 6 teams present at the shoot.  Archers shot in a course consisting of 20 3-D targets spread throughout the woods.  This is fun and challenging range for the archers.  They shot up-hill, down-hill, and even across a pond.  Three of Carmi’s high school archers made it to the podium.  Sara Harrell placed 1st in the High School Female Pins Division.  Drake Barnett placed 1st and Nate Garner placed 3rd in the High School Male Open Division.

This is the second year for the Carmi-White County S3DA Archery Club.  The club consists of students in grades 7– 12. The archers compete in Indoor Target during the winter months and 3-D Target and Outdoor Target in the spring and summer.  The Carmi students have demonstrated great success at the Regional, State and National level.  The club members include:  Jaxson Smiddie, Austin Owen, Tray Vickers, Luke Chapman, Mason Haywood, Sara Harrell, Nate Garner, Lane Buchanan, Layne Whitley, Drake Barnett, Matthew Woods, Zach Wagner, Eric Williams, and Connor Allen.  The members are coached by Jeremy Smiddie and Eric Gholson.  The student archers are very dedicated and spend many hours practicing.

The success of the Carmi-White County S3DA Archery Club can not only be attributed to the hard work of the archers but also to the coaches, parents, sponsors, and donors.  The team is very grateful to the businesses that sponsored the club this year.  Thank you to Beck’s Seed-Matt Lamont, Hutson John Deere, Roark Trucking, Hale Body Shop, Scates Valley Irrigation, 5th Street Market, Countrymark, Taylor Eyecare, Cherry Street Automotive, First Bank, Garner Farms, Tri-State Fire Protection, Cox’s Hardware, Iconik Studio, Brown’s Fertilizer, Gholson Pump and Repair, Southern Illinois Tree Service, Harrell’s Custom Fabrication, and Jason Barton Trucking.
