Carmi Rotary gets updates on White County scouting

Abby Roberts, of the Buffalo Trace Council, was the program. Abby told the club that there are six Cub Scout packs and Boy Scout troops in White County. She told the club that there was going to be a big campout this weekend and of course we are supposed to get heavy rain. She talked about the importance of scouting and how it really paid off for a local family. The young scout had just attended a first aid training when within a week he had to use it. His mother cut her wrist real bad on a window and really bled bad. The paramedics said that if the young scout had not acted when he did, his mother could have died. Scouting depends on donations from the community and Abby passed out donation cards. The Rotarians will help by calling the people on the donation cards to remind them to make a donation.

In club business, Rotarians will have a fish fry on Friday, May 12th at the American Legion. It will be from 5-7 PM and the cost will be $10. Dale Peters named Tom Logan the phantom. Morris McCall won the honor of selecting the pink ball in the 50/50 drawing but did not select the pink ball so the pot rolls over. Little Giant and Andy Williams served up a delicious meal of fried chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans. The Carmi Rotary club meets at noon on Thursday at the First United Methodist Church. Anyone wishing to get involved is encouraged to come help Rotary with the many local projects and charities that are supported. You can follow us on Facebook.
