Carmi Police Make DUI Arrest Saturday; Criminal Trespass with Warrants Arrest Friday Morning

A Norris City woman is behind bars after officers say she drunkenly and repeatedly rammed her vehicle into her husbands truck while he was at work Saturday.  Officers say they responded to a 911 call just after 3pm at the Vibracoustic East location where witnesses say 47-year-old Kerri Austin was seen driving her car into her husbands.  By the time officers arrived, Austin had fled the scene according to the report.  Officers were told Austin could be driving under the influence and after taking witness statements and reviewing security footage, they found her vehicle at Caseys.  There, they say they observed the damage to Austin’s car that matched up with the damage done to the pickup truck.  At that point, officers arrested Austin and she’s now facing charges of DUI, DUI with a Blood Alcohol Content above .08, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Reckless Driving, and Disorderly Conduct.

A New Haven woman banned from Dollar General was arrested Friday morning for being on the property.  Officers responded just before 10:30am and located 44-year-old Sarah Ray.  She was taken into custody and cited for Criminal Trespass to Real Property.  Ray also had warrants out of Posey and Vanderburgh Counties in Indiana as well as a White County warrant prompting the formal arrest.  Illinois law called for Ray to be released due to Pre-Trial Release; she was held however due to the Indiana warrants and is awaiting extradition to the Hoosier state.
