A Carmi man was arrested for a drug DUI Monday night following a traffic stop by Carmi Police. 23 year old Brett Short was observed disregarding a stop sign at the intersection of Plum and Kerney Streets at 9:43 pm and then continuing through a red traffic light. Upon approach, the officer could smell marijuana smoke, and Short showed signs of impairment during a field sobriety test. Short was transported to the White County Jail, and later was released after posting a $100 bond. A passenger in the vehicle, 23 year old Quinton Chambliss, was cited for possession of cannabis.
Tuesday afternoon, Betty Bartley reported to Carmi Police that someone had stolen an outdoor light from her residence on 6th Street.
Tuesday night, 35 year old Bill Horn of Carmi was arrested by Carmi Police on a Wabash County warrant for violation of probation. Horn was observed walking on Crebs Avenue and was taken into custody at 8:10 pm. At the time of his arrest, Horn was found to be in possession of less than 10 grams of cannabis and a smoking pipe. He was transported to the White County Jail and later was released after posting a $500 bond.
