An Omaha man was arrested by the Carmi Police Department on Monday morning at Walmart after a call about a suspected retail theft. 33 year old Jesse Stephens was taken into custody at 10:19am following a call from store employees and was also found to be wanted on warrants from Franklin and Wayne Counties. In addition, Stephens was also charged with obstruction of justice, possession of less than 2.5 grams of cannabis, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Stephens was transported to the White County Jail, where he is being held without bail on the White County charges pending a court hearing.
Just before 11am, 25 year old Samee Gunther of Eldorado was arrested at 515 Smith Street on a charge of violating an order of protection. Gunther was taken to the Jail and released after posting a $250 bond.
23 year old Brandon Fromm of Carmi was taken into custody by Carmi Police following a traffic stop at the intersection of Oak and Woodlawn at 6:21pm. Fromm was originally pulled over for a seatbelt violation, but was found to be driving on a suspended license and arrested. During a search of the vehicle, an ink pen tube was found that tested positive for methamphetamine. Fromm has been charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia in addition to the traffic charges and is being held at the White County Jail pending a court hearing.
31 year old Sarah Brown of Carmi was arrested at 6:48pm Monday after an officer spotted her using the ATM at First Bank. Brown was wanted on a White County warrant for theft. Brown was transported to the White County Jail and is being held on a $1500 bond.
A call to the Carmi Police about underage drinking led to three arrests on Robinson Street. 20 year old Jacob Richerson of Eldorado was charged with DUI of alcohol while 19 year old Haley Smith and 20 year old Morgan Kreps both of Carmi were charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. Richerson, Smith, and Kreps were all taken to the White County Jail, and later released after posting $150 bonds each.
24 year old Levi Williams of Enfield was arrested by Carmi Police on drug charges following a traffic stop early Tuesday morning. Williams was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia and was transported to the White County Jail. He is being held without bond pending a court appearance.
