Carmi Police responded to a call to the Carmi Motel early Friday morning and took a Kentucky man into custody. Officers arrived at 3:45 am and found a loaded handgun in plain sight in room 22. The room’s occupant, 50 year old Brian McGee, was known to be a convicted felon, and officers placed McGee into custody.
Officers continued to investigate the crime originally reported, and a report has been forwarded to States Attorney Denton Aud for review. Further charges may be forthcoming.
McGee was transported to the White County Jail and has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. He is being held without bond pending a court hearing.
