In White County Court on Wednesday, a Carmi man already on probation was sentenced to prison on a charge of theft according to White County States Attorney Denton Aud.
22 year old Dakota Goodwin received a five year term in Illinois Department of Corrections custody with one year of mandatory supervised release following incarceration. Judge T. Scott Webb also ordered Goodwin to pay all mandatory fines, fees, costs, and assessments, as well as restitution to his victim.
Goodwin was on probation on a 2014 charge of aggravated battery, which was revoked, and a five year sentence in prison on that charge was also handed down.
The Carmi Police Department investigated the theft case. Goodwin was represented by Public Defender Brian Shinkle.
