Carmi Dispatch received a call of a reckless driver Friday afternoon north bound on Route 1 at Brownsville. Officers were able to stop the vehicle and arrested 30 year old Cody Allen of Carmi for driving under the influence of drugs after Allen failed field sobriety tests. A search of Allen’s vehicle turned up a metal spoon and a syringe, and he was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a hypodermic syringe, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Allen was additionally cited for improper lane usage, possession of cannabis, and possession of cannabis paraphernalia. He was transported to the White County Jail, and was later released after posting a $1500 bond.
