Carmi Kiwanis Announces Colt Ford as Corn Days Entertainment Headliner for 92nd Annual Festival

It’s an exciting day today (Friday) for the Carmi Kiwanis Club.  In addition to it being exactly 7 weeks until Corn Day, Colt Ford has been announced as the Corn Days headline entertainment.  That announcement came this morning in a live interview with civic organization President Katelyne Wolff and her assistant in booking our entertainment this year, Mr. Luke Sailer.

In addition to that, we received some new details from other event chairs at yesterday’s regular Kiwanis Club meeting.  As of now, Adam Winkleman who heads up the Marching Band contest, says we have 8 known school bands that are signed up to compete and be a part of our parade.  There are a lot of folks that feel having all those marching bands really takes the Corn Days parade to a new, higher level and it’s hard to disagree with that line of thinking.  We also learned the lineup for Friday night’s Gospel concert scheduled for October 11th on the main stage at the junction of Main and Walnut.  Jared and Hillary Mitchell of The Roads Church will be on the ticket as will Tracy & Brian Orr with Jenny Bingman.  Liz Rhinehart will entertain as will Carlie Gee.  Additionally, Bryan Cowling is set to take the stage.  His daughter Ashton may join him.

In club business, Jeremy Jordan won the 50/50 opportunity to pull the right golf ball from a bucket, but was unlucky which means the jackpot in that weekly drawing will grow even more from the $58 currently awaiting the winner.  Steve Winkleman is on a hot streak as he won the $10 Hucks Gift Card for the 2nd week in a row.

Carmi’s largest civic organization by membership also got stronger Thursday afternoon as the club officially welcomed 3 new members.  Lacey Harms, who serves as the Business Development Coordinator for Ferrell Hospital, joined the club in an official capacity.  She was joined by the new Executive Director for the Carmi Chamber of Commerce, Shana Northcott.  The final new member is Emily Williams, she’s a stay at home mom now and a long time active member of the community.  That brings to the total roster of Carmi Kiwanians to around 75.
