Carmi Council Meeting Tuesday
The Carmi City Council will meet in regular session Tuesday evening for the first of the two December meetings, with a busy agenda to deal with.
Some of the business is routine such as the reports and updates from Mayor Jeff Pollard and the standing committees.
But the council will be asked to approve the annual property tax levy for the fiscal year Jan. 1, 2018 to Dec.31 of this year as presented by City CPA Keith Botsch. Aldermen will then be asked to abate the 2018 tax levy for payment of general obligation bonds. There will be no tax levy for the electric system bond issue or the water system bond issue.
Council is also expected to reappoint Robert “Bob” Duckworth to the Carmi Fire and Police Commission board, for a term from jan. 1, 2019 to Dec. 31, 2021.
An ordinance adopting a policy prohibiting sexual harassment for the City of Carmi will also likely be accepted by the council.
A closed session concerning hospital litigation will also be held, with possible action to follow.
The Carmi City Council normally meets the first and third Tuesday of each month. The meetings are open to the public.
