The City of Carmi was awarded a state infrastructure grant in the amount of $90,387 on Thursday for the construction of a new lift station and the replacement of a sewer line.
The award was one of many issued by Governor Bruce Rauner on Thursday. They are part of the Community Development Block Grant for Public Infrastructure program through funding from the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development. 36 communities received grants totaling $14.5 million.
Big Mound Township in Wayne County received $111, 018 for the new installation of water lines and connecting homes.
