(Carbondale, IL) — A company spokeswoman says the University Mall Macy’s store in Carbondale is being closed. The announcement of the closure was made yesterday. The store has been in the Carbondale community for nearly 30 years, starting in as a Famous-Barr and converting to a Macy’s in 2006. Regular, non-seasonal employees unable to be placed at nearby Macy’s stores will be eligible for severance and job transition services.
