Bulldogs Pick Up Road Win Over Mt. Vernon

The Carmi-White County Baseball team picked up a road win Monday afternoon at Mt. Vernon (IN) by a final score of 7-5.

The Bulldogs fell behind 1-0 after the first inning, but they would eventually tie it up at 1-1 in the 3rd inning thanks to an RBI single by Ty Hollingsworth, scoring Mitchel Edwards.

Mt. Vernon quickly regained the lead scoring one in the home 3rd, but the Bulldogs answered with a run in the top of the 4th inning on an RBI single by Edwards, scoring Colton Marvin. We were tied 2-2 after 4.

The Bulldogs then exploded for 5 runs in the 5th inning. Three walks to start the frame followed by a 2-run double by Maxon O’Daniel, an RBI fielders choice by Edwards, and a 2-run double by Hollingsworth gave the Bulldogs a 7-2 lead.

Mt. Vernon plated 3 runs in the 7th, but their comeback effort came up short, giving the Bulldogs the 7-5 victory.

Tyson Spicer earned the win on the mound, he allowed just 2 earned runs on 5 hits. 

At the plate,
Travor Mason went 1-for-2 with a run scored.
Gavin Holloman went 1-for-3 with a run scored.
Maxon O’Daniel went 1-for-3 with 2 RBI.
Hayden Sauls went 1-for-3.
Mitchel Edwards went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.
Ty Hollingsworth went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI.

The Bulldogs improve to 4-5-1 on the season, they will be back in action today as they travel to Edwards County for a “home” conference game as they are still unable to play games at Eckerle Park due to flooding. Fans can listen to today’s game on 97.3 FM WRUL and WRUL.com. First pitch is set for 4:30 PM.
