Bulldogs fall to Johnston City
In a battle of two teams trying to keep their playoff hopes alive, Johnston City edged the Bulldogs 36-32 in Williamson County Friday night.
Carmi-White County suffered its fifth loss of the season and is now out of contention for the playoffs, while Johnston City improved to 2-4. The Indians could still make the postseason if they win their final three games.
The Bulldogs fell behind 36-20 in the third quarter, but made a valiant comeback attempt and had the ball near midfield with just over three minutes left in the game. But Johnston City’s defense held, allowing the Indians to notch the victory on their Homecoming night.
Ethan Mahon ran for 100 yards and three touchdowns for Carmi, and Jaedon Reeder added 138 yards. Mahon, Eric Mills and Adam Phelps each had nine tackles in the game.
There was one stunner in the Black Diamond Conference Friday as Chester throttled previously unbeaten Sesser-Valier 37-0. Fairfield went to 6-0 with a 20-8 win over Edwards County. Eldorado beat CZR 38-8 and Hamilton County defeated Vienna-Goreville 48-20.
The Bulldogs will host Chester for Homecoming this Friday evening.
