With one year left in her career, Abby Vaughan has already put her name right along some of the most legendary players in Carmi-White County High School girls’ basketball history.
Vaughan scored 524 points this past season for Tracy Steed’s Lady Bulldogs, bringing her career total to 1,356 and putting her fourth on the all-time scoring list with one full season left.
Vaughan trails only Kayla Sutton (1,437), Jessica Minnick (1,576) and Jennifer Goin (1,952).
Her 524 points is also the fourth-most ever scored in a season. In fact, she now has two of the top four single-season scoring performances.
Vaughan scored 550 in 2015-16, which is second only to Jessica Minnick’s 661 in 2003-04. Third on the list is Jennifer Goin’s 528 points in 1998-99.
Lady Bulldog senior Morgan Combs finished her career with 924 points and 428 rebounds. Her rebounding total places her 11th all-time on the Lady Bulldog list. The all-time leading career rebounder is Goin with 820.
