Southern Illinois school superintendents will join state Reps. John Bradley and Brandon Phelps at a Thursday press conference in Springfield to call on the General Assembly and the governor to implement a Fiscal Year 2017 budget that increases funding for elementary schools and high schools.
Despite state budgets in recent years that increased state assistance for elementary and secondary education, schools across southern Illinois still struggle financially. Bradley and Phelps want to make sure education funding is high on the list of funding priorities and that a budget with increased assistance is signed into law by the governor.
