HARRISBURG, Ill. (JUNE 6, 2016) – Beginning Monday June 13, 2016 through Monday June 27th the Bell Smith Springs Trailhead and parking lot will be closed to allow for trail maintenance. This temporary closure includes the portion of Bell Smith Springs Road just past Redbud Campground, the trailhead parking area, the trail’s scenic overlook and immediate connector trails. For their own safety members of the public are to stay out of the areas that are posted closed. The remainder of the Bell Smith Springs trail system will be open and can be accessed from Hunting Branch Trailhead or Redbud Campground.
Those planning to visit Bell Smith Springs Recreation Area during this period should plan accordingly. Depending upon the weather and progress of the trail repairs the temporary closure may be in place past June 27th.
