Annual FFA SAnnual FFA Section 25 Ag Mechanics Competition Held at SICection 25 Ag Mechanics Competition Held at SIC

Southeastern Illinois College once again served as host of the Annual FFA Section 25 Ag Mechanics Competition. Vocational-technical students from a number of local high schools in southeastern Illinois competed Thursday, April 19 in the areas of Ag power, carpentry, electricity, surveying and welding. 

The largest competition to date, 13 Section 25 schools, including Carmi, Carrier Mills- Stonefort, Eldorado, Galatia, Gallatin County, Hamilton County, Hardin County, Harrisburg, Joppa, Massac County, Norris City-Omaha-Enfield, Pope County and Vienna spent a day on SIC’s campus testing their mechanical skills and learning about careers in agriculture. There were 70 student participants present for the event.

The first place overall team award went to Massac County’s FFA chapter.  Eldorado High School’s chapter took second place team overall followed by Carrier Mills- Stonefort’s team in third.

Placing individually, in Ag power, Alex Maxfield of Carrier Mills placed first, Kyle Kunath of Pope County placed second and Kyle Adkins of Massac County placed third. In carpentry, Terry Baumgart of Carmi placed first, Kaleb Cox of Joppa placed second and Austin Korte of Massac County placed third. In electricity, Jonathan Foster of Hardin County placed first, Casey Pribble of Galatia placed second and Jakob Korte of Massac County placed third. In surveying, Keeton Reynold of Massac placed first, Christan Davis of Vienna placed second and Alex Hunsinger of Carmi placed third. Finally, in welding, John Bremer of Pope County placed first, Kyle Worley of Eldorado placed second and Bryan Davenport of Galatia placed third.
